I was likely expecting more than they can physically do. The faces, characters, etc, still look like an 80s film. However, much of the film is still fuzzy/grainy in appearance. I even noticed more details on the Jareth doll in Sara's room and I'm not sure I even noticed that doll at all before. In the tunnel the glitter on the walls are more noticeable. The leaves look crisper than ever before. For instance, when Sara is going through the bushy part of the labyrinth. I can CERTAINLY see improvement in SOME aspects of the picture quality. I bought Labyrinth in UHD as many reviewers said the picture was stunning. I was skeptical as I purchased Labyrinth on Bluray not long before this and I didn't feel Bluray quality was notably good. I don't think there was enough improvement in the picture quality to justify purchasing Labyrinth in UHD. This review is based on the UHD aspect of this product.
#Dvd labyrinth 2 movie
I love the Labyrinth movie, 5 stars for the movie itself. I can tell a difference for the several UHD discs I have purchased so far. I absolutely LOVE the picture quality of 4k even for certain films that were not "true" 4k. To begin with, I am not one of the many people out there that doesn't think 4k makes a difference. If you already have Blu Ray version, I would stick with it and remember it is an 80's movie. However, the same 'soft' picture quality seems to dominate any clarity improvements.Īll in all, if you find this for the same price or a little more than Blu Ray, I would recommend it IF you don't already have the Blu Ray version. End the end I even seemed to noticed the Jareth figurine on Sarah's table more than before. Also, the leaves on the bushes in the bush part of Labyrinth seem much more crisp than I noticed before. There are a few instances I notice more clarity over Blu Ray version, the glitter on the walls in Labyrinth seems to pop out much more. However, it is as pleasing to watch as Blu Ray version. I guess, again, you can't expect much from an 80's film, even sourced from the original 35mm film and mastered to 'true' 4k. There is much grainy, 'soft' picture consistently throughout the film. Although I am one that does notice a difference with 4k over Blu Ray over all. Although I was skeptical I decided to purchase Labyrinth on 4k since several reviews said it was a significantly better picture.Īll in all about the same as Blu Ray. Now that I have a 4k UHD Player I have been eager to test it out with several movies. However, I read several reviews saying it is an amazing, incredible picture. Thus, I couldn't see them making this 80's film significantly better in 4k. I was not stunned by Blu Ray version at all. It was some time since I watched it when I bought the Blu Ray version, maybe a couple months ago. I have always enjoyed the Labyrinth movie.
